As a result of providing clinical benefits to the dialysis patients, the Crit-Line offers the clinic various economic benefits.
- Reduced morbidity – by minimizing hypovolemia and its associated morbidity, savings in nurse time and supplies can be realized in addition to better patient compliance.
- Reduction in missed treatments – fluid overload and the resulting CHF, pulmonary edema, etc. cause most dialysis patients to miss many dialysis treatments each year due to hospitalization. Missed treatments reduce revenue yet do not reduce the fixed cost of the dialysis treatment.
- Increased EPO accuracy – reduce missed reimbursements due to high Hct readings by more closely following each patient’s Hct. Allows more accurate titration based on readings taken each treatment instead of weekly or even monthly checks.
- Increased nurse efficiency – by reducing patient morbidity, lab draws, missed treatment hassle, etc.; nurses are able to better spend their time – managing the hemodialysis process.
- Reduction in access failure – by proactively monitoring access function an additional significant cause of missed treatments can be minimized. Access revision can be scheduled between treatments rather than urgent de-clotting procedures discovered necessary at the beginning of treatment.
- Competitive advantage – increased patient comfort may be important in recruiting efforts in markets where competitive situations exist.
HemaMetric’s proposition to the dialysis market is that using the Crit-Line to provide optimal patient care is cost-effective, and in fact may have a positive financial benefit. Please review the Cost Justification page to estimate how the use of Crit-Line will affect the financial bottom-line.
